My bf is interested in a new position and has been talking about it as a goal for the past three years. Well now he has needed experience. I offered to help since I know people in the field. At the same time I want a new job as well. I asked my network if they knew of any job openings for the specific position my bf wanted. A good friend responded immediately. He isn’t in charge of hiring but could put in a good word. He told me about a different position that’s similar to the position I asked about and I’ll be getting paid much more than I do now. He automatically told the hiring manager about ME, gave a good word and told her I’ll be sending my info. I told him that the position was for someone else. He said he’s only helping close friends and family get positions from now on and isn’t interested in being swayed from this standpoint. So now I’m not sure what to do. I don’t want to make him look bad and wouldn’t mind taking the position, but at the same time I feel guilty even considering it because I originally asked for my boyfriend and it’s something he really wants more than I do. I feel it may cause tension if he finds out.
