I don't get an ultrasound until I'm halfway through my pregnancy 😭

I am just over 9 weeks along according to glow with this pregnancy. My first prenatal appointment is October 18th but I had a phone appointment with a nurse today for her to get my information, family medical history, past pregnancy/delivery history, etc. And she told me they dont do ultrasounds until 20 weeks which really shocked me. I mean I know ultrasounds are a relatively new thing and not technically super necessary but still.

Is it weird to not have an ultrasound until 20 weeks? Do most hospitals do this?

When I was pregnant with my daughter we received one around 10 weeks to measure her to get a more accurate due date. And then another at 20 weeks for more in-depth measurements to make sure she was growing properly, check gender, etc.

I had such a bad labor experience with that hospital though that we decided to go to a different hospital this time around and they told me on the phone today that they only do heart monitoring with the Doppler and only give ultrasounds for the 20 week anatomy scan. I'm so bummed. I wanted to see my little bean 😭
