Should I take him back

so I broke it off with my ex Boyfriend a little while ago because while we were together he kept putting himself down I really care about him and I don't wanna him to fell like hes a bad boyfriend so I did what I thought was best I broke it off with him so yesterday he asked why I left and I told him everything then he got down on one knee and asked me to be his girlfriend again. should i take him back? I love him but I don't want him to keep putting himself down
