How to spice things up?

Me and my boyfriend have frequent sex which satisfies me enough, but I still feel like I need/want more from it. I don’t know how to talk to him about spicing things up without it getting awkward or weird. I’d personally like him to be more rough which I feel like he would be into but idk and I don’t really want to ask? Also I don’t know how to propose trying new positions. Advice please !!
