Drinking certain things and scans

So I've seen people talking about how drinking certain drinks gets the baby to be active during ultrasounds. How and why does this work?

For example cold drinks. How does that make the baby move?

If you drink a bunch of sugar/caffeine, it will pass to the baby and they’ll be active. This can backfire and make baby so active that they won’t be able to get good measurements.

Yeah i drank alot of orange juice in my first pregnancy for the 20w scan. He was dancing and wriggling around everywhere which was funny to watch but we had to come back for another scan because they couldnt measure the heart properly

Just drink some really really cold water with lemon right when you go in. That’s what my Dr office does to get babies active for NST’s. No need to do anything with sugar or caffeine.

It just wakes them up. They must feel the cold. I never asked but I had to go in 2x a week for NST’s and they needed the baby active. It must be the safest way to accomplish that.
