Metformin with pcos? Has it helped anyone conceive?

I have been back and forth with my Dr and was a recently diagnosed with pcos. All of my levels are normal but the nurse practitioner still decided to put me on metformin. I am not ovulating at all 😏 . Has metformin worked for anyone else who was actively trying? I'm so lost and feel as if I got no answers. I don't get a period regularly so I don't even know when to test for ovulation.
