Early labour pains?

First time mum here so forgive the stupid questions.. I’ve been having mild cramps around my ribs / lower belly button for yesterday and now today... they’re not super painful as I can put up with them they are probably around 4/10 pain scale. Is this the start of early labour? Everyone keeps telling me I’ll know when I’m having contractions yet I’ve never suffered with period pains and never been pregnant before so just can’t see how I will... would just appreciate a little advice. 39+5 today 👶🏼
