Trouble getting 7 month old attention??

So I have noticed as my son is getting older at about 5 months it’s getting harder and harder to get his attention. He gets so focused on what he is doing that he doesn’t wanna turn towards you when your talking to him nor does he turn towards his name.. I’m not sure what to do. He has a hearing test next week but his pediatrician didn’t seem to concerned and said to check back at 9 months... anyone else have experience with a baby who is hard to get their attention I can’t tell if it’s just because he is aware of so much now or it’s something to be concerned about
