My surname is Birch-Foster (my husband’s was Foster and it means ‘guardian of the forest!’)  so we thought willow would be nice to complement the ‘tree’ and forest theme...

Will her last name be Birch-Foster? Or something else?
If her last name includes Birch then I wouldn't use Willow because to me that sounds kind of confused like a Franken-tree. But if her last name doesn't include Birch then I think Willow would be beautiful, and a fun tie-in to you and other trees in the family.
