Are flu shots recommended in pregnancy?!

I'd rather be safe than sorry and haven't been able to speak to my doctor about it!

Yes! When you get your flu shot while pregnant, not only are you protecting yourself from getting sick, but your body passes the antibodies it produces on to the baby and they will be protected in their first few months of life when they are most vulnerable to getting sick or even dying from the flu before they are able get vaccinated themselves. Doctors recommend the flu shot and the TDAP (whooping cough) vaccine while pregnant. You can usually get both at your local pharmacy. Ask your doctor about timing on the TDAP. It’s usually within a certain amount of weeks of your due date that they recommend getting it.

They’re recommended but I’m not getting one. They can’t force you to do anything. It’s personal preference and if you don’t want one don’t let anyone shame you into getting it.

The truth?? Yeah they recommend it, but they have no idea how it will effect you or your baby. They are studying it right now, by tracking the people who receive it while pregnant in a registry. Sorry but I refuse to be a lab rat 🤷🏻‍♀️. You can look up plenty of info about “fetal demise” increasing after flu shots.
