Our story so far

Betsy

Due with our first baby, a boy, on January 20th, my husband and I are facing a challenge. I had some red/pink blood in my discharge when I wiped on Saturday. It went away by lunch but then came back. I call my Dr and she said to get it checked out even though she didn't suspect it to be anything. When hubs and I got there I got a pelvic exam in L&D to find that at 25w6d, I was 2-3cm dilated with a thinning cervix. The sac was bulging and I was having contractions. The contractions worsened through the night but baby stayed put. I was then dilated to 3-4cm. We made it through the night and due to an incompetent cervix, I will be in the hospital until baby is born. To give him the best chance, they are keeping me here on bed rest in a wing set aside for cases like this. Dr wants to keep growing baby at least 2-4 weeks, as long as he cooperates. Baby has quite the story already and he has a long road ahead, but daddy and I are doing everything we can to give him a chance. He's just so eager to join us into the world. Asking for prayers as we face the upcoming days and weeks!

UPDATE 10/18/18: Dr saw me last night and I am now 5cm dilated, bulging sac, head down. I will be in the hospital till little guy decides to make his debut...hopefully not for a while yet!

UPDATE 10/25/18: My water broke at 2:30am. They moved me down to l&d and started me on antibiotics. I'm 6cm dilated. Nurses and Drs say that just because my water broke doesn't mean I'm having the baby now. I'm not contracting and could hang on for weeks. This is quite a roller coaster! Hoping that baby hangs on in there and grows a while longer.
