Does he like me?

There’s this guy in my ELA class, we’ve been friends for a while but not to close. When my ex broke up with me (they’re friends) he helped me with, he’s always so sweet and happy and has the best humor. I’ve also started to notice that when he looks at me he is 100% invested in the conversation... eye contact, head nods, the whole works. I also feel like when we do talk that he looks at me as though I’m cute and he’s happy to be around me and possibly even likes me... BUT IDK! How do I figure it out and get closer to him? I’m having a pumpkin carving contest this weekend and he’s coming, after we carve we’re all going to watch scary movies... how do I tell if he likes me as a friend or more than that?
