Confused pls help

For school this year my class gets to go on these amazing trips, like China if you took chinese and a nearby island for a band competition. The China trip was expected to cost 3000$, but ended up costing almost 5000. On top of my savings meting more than drained, my mom decided to come too. Then for the band trip, news came out that that would cost 650$ that I don’t have currently. My mom eventually told me that I couldn’t go compete for band, where I am the first chair of my section. I really want to go on both trips, and I know that sounds stupid and a rich kid problem, but I am more than grateful for even the opportunity to go on these amazing trips. My mom and I don’t talk comfortably about money or finances, so I hadn’t talked to her abt how much I could pay for. On top of that, there’s a scholarship the school offers that will cover for another part of the trip cost. I brought the scholarship up with my mom, and she told me she didn’t want to take money like that. I didn’t tell her that I thought “well, what was it made for if it wasn’t to give people like us help?” I live in a suburb, and if anyone else who needed it more than me tried to get the scholarship, I would definitely give it to them. Anyway I started getting jobs like babysitting, tutoring, and selling on Etsy to get more money, and I only need 80 more dollars by the end of this month to get the first payment, but Idk if I’ll be able to pay for the next payments. I would have 3 more months to make another 250$, and then 2 more months after that to get the last 160$. I could ask my mom to pay what she thought a “reasonable price” for the trip to be, and/or I could email my teacher behind my mom’s back and ask for the scholarship information. Help!
