Uterine fibroids

I was diagnosed this week with a uterine fibroid after having my 19th day of heavy cycle and it having been heavier than my previous days' flow. I was sent to emergency by my OBGYN and was given an exam and an ultrasound. I have a follow up appointment this week and am still experiencing my same flow. Has anyone experienced fibroids? What has been your experience with these?  I am wondering how this will effect my journey as we are TTC. I am anxiously awaiting the appointment.
