High testosterone.

I've recently been diagnosed with high testosterone. Blood work came back and said mine was 166. The doctor is saying that is reason I can't conceive. She wants to put me on birth control pills for 6 months but I've already done that. I was on them for a year and I was also on Metformin which made me sick all the time and I had to quit taking it. Well it never lowered the testosterone and keep in mind this is a new doctor I'm seeing. My husband and I have been trying for 5 years. My question is if anyone has had this problem and if you have what have you done to correct it?
