Regression (18 month?)
I’m thinking my son is going through the 18 month sleep regression and I’m not sure how I can help him. I know it could possibly be other factors (his eye teeth are still moving up and while I don’t see the next set of molars coming in, maybe they are?). And developmentally is starting to talk a lot more and is starting to walk. For about two weeks now, he’s had a hard time falling asleep for naps and bed. His routine has stayed the same. (Hard time as in taking close to 45/60 minutes to fall asleep). He generally doesn’t cry, he chats, whines a little and tosses and turns. As a result, his naps have been short and bedtime has been later. (Today he refused a nap altogether). He has also been waking during the night, crying for a few minutes and then falls back to sleep (I haven’t needed to go up), and he is also waking up early (around 430/5), talks, tosses and turns for about an hour and then will go back to sleep.
Prior to this, he has always been an amazing sleeper. He would sleep from about 7:45pm to 8:45am-ish. And nap from around 12-230/3. He has always needed/had more sleep than the “norm”. I know this will all likely pass, but in the meantime, any advice as to how to help him through this and get back on track would be great! Thanks!
