Smelly breast????

Question

I've been breastfeeding for a week and a few days. But I had the beginning of mastitis so I've been rotating Motrin and Tylenol. Now I've done that about 2 days and now my breast milk smells awful! It smells almost sour but my baby doesn't seem to mind. The Lactation consultant isn't available until Monday and idk what to do.

I would try to stay off the pain meds if you can and use a warm heating pad & try pumping to get the milk down so theyre not as full. Or feed your baby as much as you can to relieve the pressure. Also buy some sunflower lecithin - women who have that issue buy that since it makes the milk “less sticky” and it helps the breast ducts from getting plugged.
