How do you prepare/educate yourself on who to vote for?

Voting is overwhelming! How do you prepare yourself to make an informed decision?

All of the above. I research the candidates but I'm most likely to vote Democrat since that's the party that closest aligns with my values.

Look up League of Women Voters for your region. They have voters guides for every election. Your newspaper will probably compile one, too. It’s a lot of work to be informed especially for a big election like this one.

Lately I’ve been thinking about people my age (25) and younger and how we prepare.. I’ve always been taught to vote but I’ve never been taught how to prepare, research and make an informed decision.. it’s always been voting for who my family votes for. Of course, as I got older I figured out myself how to get the information I wanted. 
I was wondering if there was a way I could get all of the unbiased information needed and put it into something like a pamphlet so it’s easier for us to do our due diligence.

In San Francisco we get a massive voter's pamphlet...it has all the propositions & candidates in it. I read through the comments; check out who is endorsing what & whom, and how aligned that is with my values; discuss with my parents; go to the community center when they offer public forum discussions about the various propositions; and glance at the super wasteful ads candidates send because I eliminate anyone who is negative campaigning - that just rubs me the wrong way.
