My perfect birth image became a reality

So finally a month later having time to write my birth story so here goes!

Thursday the 27th September at 2am (my due date was 26th) I woke up with period pains, I kept trying to go back to sleep but every 10 mins or so they would wake me again. I woke my partner and said ‘today’s the day’ but he didn’t believe me so he laughed and went back to sleep 😂. I stayed in bed until 5am and then I got up. Mum was staying with me as she flew over from England to New Zealand for the birth, so I got her up and told her I was having pains and not sure if labour was starting. At 7am we went for a walk to the local supermarket and bought snacks and drinks in case I was going into labour. In the shops my pains got worse and were every 8-10 mins. We walked back and I spent Aron time on the birthing ball. The pains were getting stronger but no closer. At 1pm we went for a walk to the chemist and the pains got worse again and were 5-6 mins apart. We came back and by 2pm they were 3-4 mins apart and very strong. We called the midwife out. She came to my house and examined me and I was at 2cm, she gave me a stretch and sweep and left. 2 hours later I was in AGONY. I have never felt pain like it, I thought I was going to die! The contractions were coming one after the other, I was getting no time inbetween. we called the midwife back out but she wouldn’t examine me again until 4 hours had passed. She talked me through breathing through the contractions and stayed with me until 6pm. At 6pm she left and said meet me at the hospital at 7. Come 6.20 I was feeling a lot of pressure, so we rang her and told her we were going in. We got the hospital and the pains were worse, I got assigned a room and given gas and air....THANK GOD! My midwife arrived l, she checked me...8cm!!!!!!!!! and after an hour and half it was time to push! They said I pushed for around 30 mins but it honestly felt like 5! The ring of fire is real let me tell you that! The head came out and my water broke! One more push and he was born! He came out perfectly clean and cried right away. They put him on my chest and I cried, it was so overwhelming. They injected me in the bum and a few small pushes and my placenta was born. The midwife checked me and my perinium was intact. I had a small tear inside but no stitches needed! Carter William born at 8.59pm weighing 7lb1oz. He is perfect 💙 I am so thankful that I only used gas and air, and so thankful for my mum and boyfriend for helping me through it!!

Also, I had my midwife and a student midwife. I totally recommend you having a student there! She was AMAZING. and seriously girls, how do we expect people to learn if we don’t let them!?
