Baby boy arrived!
I have been so excited to be able to write my birthing experience and now I can! I began slow labour on the 15th October the birthdate of my first child and was admitted to hospital as I was high risk, I proceeded into slow labour for the next couple of days with nothing exciting happening a few twinges now and then but unable to sleep due to lower back pain. On the night of the 18th I started getting regular contractions nothing painful just obviously contractions I was examined and was only 1cms at 11.30pm I decided to have a bath and try and get some sleep, whilst in the bath I noticed blood in the water and asked the midwife to examine me for a second after my bath and by the time she could do this it was 3am I was again only 1-2cms I was already exhausted 🙈 by 4am I was in intense pain and phoned my aunt who is my birthing partner and works at the hospital to come up despite being out of visiting hours she again requested the midwife to examine me when she did I was 4cms and honestly doubting how I could do anymore I was in tears with the pain and kept asking for something to help they put me on a monitor to record baby’s heartrate, the midwife adviser I have some medication to help me sleep and went to get a prescription for the midwife in charge. When she came back she administrated the jab in my thigh unsure what this was called? And when she was rubbing my back I got a contraction and she immediately pressed the alarm for support and advised me that baby’s heartrate was dropping and she could feel the strength of my contractions in my back when one came and asked if she could examine me again, she examined me at 4.35 and I was 10cms so in 35 minutes I went from 4cms to 10cms they immediately unlocked my bed and began to wheel me to delivery my aunt phoned my partner who had began making his way up after my Aunty contacted him as she could tell I was close before the midwife confirmed. I was put into the lift and I started to crown and was asked to stop pushing but I couldn’t help it my body had taken over and was pushing for me. When I got out the lift my partner was waiting for me at the delivery doors I have never been so pleased to se him. I literally got into delivery and baby was born at 4.43am no stitches required but baby was sleepy due to the medication I was given.
Baby Ellis was born 19th October 2018 at 4.43am weighing 6lbs and 15oz at 3 weeks early with a full head of hair! I am so in love words cannot describe.
