What to expect after IUD insertion?

I’m supposed to get my copper IUD on Monday. My doctor told me to expect cramping, but is there anything else I should expect? Does it take a while to get used to or is it like a tampon and you can’t feel it?? I’m also a bit nervous about having sex again after it’s in, I was talking to a guy once and he said it would poke the tip of his dick??? Please help ease my anxiety 😂😂

My husband never felt mine. It’s just the strings that are coming out of the cervix not the iud and after a couple weeks they will soften. They seem a little stiff and first but get soft and usually wrap around your cervix and no one will feel them. I had a hormonal iud and I bled for about a month straight and then had random spotting until 3 months. So be prepared for that. Other than that it’s amazing!

It took me awhile to get used to sex, and my husband could feel the strings, the actual iud is in the uterus, so he wasn’t feeling that, just the strings you use to make sure it stays in place.

Just expect really bad cramping for the first few days. Personally I didn’t have bleeding or any other symptoms except for cramping. And just keep an eye on it, you cant feel it in you since its in your uterus. But you should check your strings every once in a while to make sure it’s in place. Your boyfriend may feel the strings during sex and stuff but that’s about it.

Cramping some bleeding, and then for a few months I was hormonal and had like pre period symptoms all the time, but once my body adjusted I was good. I had a period every other month and it was really light, the second time I only sometimes got a very short period. You dont feel it. And my husband never noticed the strings. Though idk if he really ever tried to focus on that 😂 if your partner says something you can g back to the dr and see if they'll cut them a little shorter.
