Sexual assault? Who to believe

Question

So i know i’m going to get a whole ton of shit for this (i dont really care though) but looking all all these cases on tv about women coming out with their sexual assault claims years later, are we always just supposed to believe them right off the batt with no proof? 
Is it completely forbidden to believe a man when he says he didnt do it? 
My heart aches for women who are real victims of sexual assault but how do we just believe someone with no proof? Ending a man’s career and life just on women’s assumptions?

I mean the men’s careers don’t even suffer really even if there is proof

I think it’s tough. Not just for women but men too (men can get sexually assisted as well. I think the only way to stop false claims is to sue them for slandering. (I say sue because there isn’t a law in place yet, and it’s up to the person whose being slandered to take it to court) 
When I was a little girl I was asleep in our living room couch and my brothers friends came over (9 yr gap) and in the middle of the night I felt one of his friends on top of me with his fingers inside me while my underwear were still on. I froze, I was scared and petite I was about 7 at the time. 
I told my mom the next morning and my mom tells me “are you sure he wasn’t looking for change in the couch” and my own brother said “you’re lying he was with me the whole time” 
My family didn’t believe me. They thought it was dream. It wasn’t until years later I’m 16 and my brother comes home with bloody knuckles. It turned out my brother beat up my molester. They had a falling out and when they crossed paths he yells to my brother “your sister was nice and tight I just need to use one finger” 
My brother begged for my forgiveness. 
With that said. I would always believe the victim until proven otherwise because I know what it’s like to not be believed. It has taken me 18 years to tell that story. I still cannot enjoy being “fingered” by my husband as foreplay. 
even though now police can’t do anything about it, it still doesn’t make it any less true.

With all these assault cases I think everyone has felt conflicted. It’s hard to say who we are to believe when there is no evidence and that’s why it’s encouraged to report assault as soon as it happens. When there is no evidence then unfortunately there’s not really a way to determine who is telling the truth and at that point it would be wrong to proclaim someone guilty but when you follow a case and look into the people involved and the people they associate with you can make an assumption for yourself on if the allegations are true or not.

I mean, false accusations happen a lot. And it’s really hard to tell. My brother owed this one guy a LOT of money, and when the guy threatened to sue my brother for the money. My brother told my family he would just say the guy molested him, so he could get out of the charges. The guy never sued because he didn’t want his rep tarnished by false accusations. But on the other hand, I know people who’ve actually been sexually assaulted, and weren’t believed. 
So I don’t know how people can say no one would ever make a false accusation, cuz I’ve seen a lot of people do it
