Were you lonely as an only child?

Question

Trying to decide if my son would need a sibling or not, my son is only 3 weeks so I don’t even know what I want yet. What are the pros and cons of having one child and having 2+ children??????

I have a brother but he is 6 years younger than me so we were not close enough to be great playmates. We are friends now as adults. As a kid I mainly just had all my neighborhood friends, friends from school and lots of cousins. I was never lonely. 
We are only planning on having one chic but she has cousins who are close in age.

I have one sister and we have always hated each other for as long as I can remember. So I was lonely but not because I didn’t have a sibling.

I’m an only child and often think/thought a sibling would have been a good addition to my life. It would be nice to have that relationship with someone and to learn from them. And maybe I wouldn’t be such a freaking introvert lol I’m super close with some cousins, but I don’t think it’s the same. 
At the same time, I feel like I’m a little more independent than many with siblings. I’m ok being alone, I like the quiet, I’m content not having people around all the time and doing things myself/on my own. 
I don’t think a sibling is a ‘need’ kind of thing, that’s on you guys to decide if you want to bring another baby into the world.

My father is an only child. And he have made me and my brother promise that if its possible we will have more than one. Because he now has to take care of two extremely mentally ill parents all alone. My grandma was 16when she had him, and due to complications she couldn’t have more kids.
I have never heard him say he was lonely as a kid, but now that they both are really ill all he wants is someone to help him/talk to. Sadly you never know if you are one of them who will get dementia when 45years old, or other things that will make you dependent on close family.

Never have another child just to give your child a sibling, there’s no guarantee they’ll ever get along anyway. They guilt of only having one is very real and shouldn’t be, only children are taught something Others often aren’t and that’s how to enjoy their own company. Me and my sister are 8 years apart, I was never lonely I learnt to play alone and now love my own company

I have a sister. She’s 9 years older. So mostly we didn’t spend too much time together as kids because she was in college when I was 9 and even before that the age gap was so large we were on different levels. 
But no, it wasn’t lonely. 
Now as adults we are closer because age gaps in adulthood don’t matter as much.

I always wanted my children to be close in age so they could get along. My baby is 4 months and I am 5 weeks pregnant. It wasn’t planned and i was in birth control. I was so sleep deprived I kept thinking I took it

I wasn’t an only child, but i was the baby of the family with my siblings being much older than me. So much older that i do not recall when they lived with us. I felt like an only child and I can remember wanting a sister so badly.
