I won’t say it wasn’t intended but I won’t say it was either. After a mess of a year I was drawn into tinder. With absolutely no intentions other than sex in mind I made my bio brief and blunt. Spent a few hours swiping and eventually fell asleep.

Days later, I realize I have over 100 messages. I take one big scroll as if it was a “the price is right” wheel and click on what ever was below my finger. He was cute and his bio wasn’t much different than my own. He immediately insisted we meet and I wasn’t about to turn him down.

One drink led to two and next thing I know it’s morning and I found myself in this strangers bed, at least that’s where I hoped I was. I left before he could even see. Days later he HMU again. More detailed on his intentions with me I gave in, how could I not. He was kind, attentive, and incredibly good in the bedroom. He gave me his address and I was there in minutes. Again, and again, and again.

Weeks, months pass. School was starting back and he was set to leave town for work. I had left a few things here and there at his place and I had planned to retrieve them before he left, but with work, and school the time got the best of me and I forgot.

A few weeks after school began I made a trip to see him, at this point he was the only one I was seeing and I had high hopes by now. 6 months had went by and I began to grow feelings. He gave me a key to his place and asked me to go by on Thursday’s between 3-6 to feed the fish and check on the house. The time should have given it away. Or maybe her jacket I saw the second night I was there. The extra toothbrush or tampons in the cabinet.

Looking back now how did I not know. I guess I never would have. But thanks to technology I accidentally set my time for Tuesday to go over and check the fish. Oops... I walked in, used the rest room, and I heard her. “Hello”. Holy shit I though, someone’s breaking in. When she finally saw me it all hit me. I couldn’t say anything. I told her I was asked to clean up and I left. I drove 7 hours all night and confronted him. Boy was I petty for that one.

He was shook and I could tell by his voice on the phone that he was more afraid to face me than her by a long shot. I drug him to the car and drove all the way back. Screaming and fighting the whole way. When we returned she was gone.

No where to be found, I fell for his excuse and explanation that she was “housekeeping” months later I hadn’t seen her anymore. Oh how he was demanding and sexy and pleasing. I resumed my normal daily life and once while at work she showed up. Tears down her face, I could tell she was misplaced, and well outside her comfort zone, “can I help you”, I asked. Treating her like every patient I see.

She asked to see me privately after work, I accepted and set to meet her at the new Japanese restaurant. We mutually knew why, we just didn’t say it. When I showed up , she hugged me. I was shocked. She said she only had one question. I said I’ll tell you anything you want to know. “How long”. She asked. I explained it all. Without missing a single detail. I explained to her I saw signs he may have been married but I wasn’t sure and that he never wore a ring and I never saw her but the one time.

I explained the events that followed after the night I saw her and his excuses. We laughed, cried and planned. I explained to him I was leaving town to fly to my cousins and my phone would be off for the week. Moments later we hit the road for the 13 hour drive to his new job site to confront. For what, I’ll ever know. I never got out of the car. She needed this. She needed this closure of just letting him see what he don’t to her mentally. The drive home was long. She slept and cried almost the entire time. And never once ate.

When we returned to the city she hugged me and told me she had no hard feelings and thanked me for taking her. I never saw him again. Nor did I see her. I went back a week later and got my belongings and left. Changed my number and moved on.

Just last week, I ran into him at the coffee shop. I looked up to him and just asked “ why”. We talked a few hours and he explained she left him and that he understood. He said she didn’t provide for him the way I did.

The way he needed. I told him it would have been easier to talk to her about what she was doing or what he could do to make it better. He explain that it was just easier to make a tinder account.
