Obgyn referred me to reproductive endocrinologist and I don’t know how to feel.
So I went for my yearly exam today. Had a new doctor because I’ve never had an actual consistent one. She was super sweet and she’s actually a midwife, which I love! But I told her about us trying- and told her we were tracking using opks, temping, times Bd, etc. she said it sounds like we are doing everything right, and she referred me to an RE (reproductive endocrinologist). I have decent insurance, but we just moved and hubby wrecked the car and I just don’t feel comfortable going that route yet considering I haven’t even tried anything yet and spending all that money.
Is it normal to be instantly referred to an RE before trying other options? Can I call the office and ask if I can try other options first and see if maybe she would call in a prescription for something? We are only 6 months into trying, and I just feel it’s too early to try anything extremely drastic and I’d rather start with clomid or something. Can gynecologists not prescribe it and only RE’s? I don’t want to ruin my relationship with her by asking, because I do really like her and would really like for her to be my doctor if I do get pregnant!
I’m so confused, but I just don’t want to get in over my head this early. Obviously, if it comes to it, we will do what it takes but I’d just prefer to try something a little simpler first before going all in and looking at IUI/IVF/etc.
