How to know its endo??

Question

Hey ladies! I'm new to this group as this is the first time in 25 years that I've been told I could have endometriosis. (Its a concern of my mom and some friends). 
Anyway. Been on birthcontrol since about 16 but recently stopped and haven't been on the pill since about December 2017. Periods are normally painful for 3 days till I start flowing. 
This time, October 2018, in was bed ridden from the pain, nausea, chills, cold sweats, diarrhea, etc. Midol did not help at all. (Its usually a God send) 
Question: what steps do you need to take to be tested? I'm not eligible for another pap till January 2019. 
2) what are some issues you ladies had while dealing with it? 
3) how does your doctor test for it? Or how do you get them to test for it?

I've was diagnosed with endometriosis about 13 years ago. My symptoms were always constant pain before and after my cycles. I've since had two surgeries to remove the cysts but there is no cure for it so it always comes back. From what my doctor told me the only way to know for sure is through surgery. I have found after all these years the best thing that works is eating gluten free dairy free and doing  light workouts especially the closer you get to your cycle helps with the pain. Some doctors recommend birth control but in my experience never worked . Hope this helps.

The only way to diagnose endometriosis is through a laparoscopy. Fortunately, if you do have endo, they can go ahead and burn it out and you can get back on bc. Diet changes and exercise do help most women with endo. There’s also temporary menopause (Lupron), a new drug called Orlissa, birth control, or pregnancy.
