He’s finally asleep ... how unsafe is this? Nursing pillow he does always sleep with that blanket on him way too cold in the uk for him not to haha but I do usually took it into the mattress rn I’m just letting him nap while I’m cleaning

If you are leaving him unsupervised to sleep, then the pillow & blanket need to go. If you have eyes on him the whole time then you're probably fine.

I wouldn't have the pillow or the blanket in there regardless of if I'm standing right next to him or across the room. The blanket is a suffocation risk and the pillow puts their necks in an unsafe position which can cut off his airways and make it harder to breathe.

My son survived loose sheets on our queen bed with big blankets and pillows while sleeping on his tummy. (He has to sleep on his tummy until he was 6 months). So to me it looks fine but to safety standard you shouldn’t have blanket or pillow.

Both the pillow and the blanket go against safesleep guidelines. The blanket because of suffocation hazard and the pillow for the same reason but because it could put his neck at an angle which could cut off some of his air. It’s called positional asphyxiation. Just like how you’re not supposed to leave them in a car seat for a while - because of the angle of their head (chin towards chest).  They can appear perfectly fine but in actually might be getting low oxygen (dangerous).  So for that reason I wouldn’t even use the pillow if supervising the nap. Also, they have sleepsacks that are good for warmth and are considered safe alternatives to blankets.

I wouldn't with that pillow personally but I've hot the chicco next to me crib and I've got this in it.... US regulations are different from UK as UK say this type of sleep positioner is fine.

If you’re sitting in the same room I’d say it’s fine. My son was born in feb and we lived in a basement apartment so I used to cover him with a blanket all the time. But I wouldn’t leave him unsupervised like that for fear of smothering

If he’s just napping and you’re awake it’s fine. If you’re sleeping then definitely tuck the blanket in. I know safety regulations are nothing in the crib and before my baby I was the BIGGEST advocate for that but you have to do what you have to do, and for a few days my baby wouldn’t sleeping flat because he’d spit up and choke on his vomit, so we put his boppy in his bassinet where it was tight and wouldn’t move and he slept on it for a couple days. It made me anxious and I’d wake up constantly to check on him, but it was better than him choking on puke.

I would take the pillow away from him and replace the blanket with a lighter one or take off his bottoms and leave him with baby vest and still use the blanket x
