FTM & GD

So I was diagnosed with GD a couple of weeks ago and so far have just been watching my diet and checking my blood sugars 4 times a day. I’m curious though, if you started this way and at what point did they put you on medicine. Here are my numbers:

The 126 in the morning was really 105 when I woke up. I’m nervous that even though my fasting numbers are typically below 100, they’re still too high. I was told < 100 fasting and < 130 after b, l & d. Thanks in advance!!

My doctor had me see a dietitian and when she saw my fasting number (in the morning) was higher than 95 multiple times (even if it was 100), she immediately started me on insulin. I take it in the morning before breakfast and at night before I’m suppose to eat my bedtime snack. I also check my BS a total of 6 times a day. They want my number an hour after eating to be 140 or below...which is never a problem. The dietitian also gave me a carb intake guideline to follow and wants me to eat breakfast, snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner and bedtime snack. I keep having to adjust my insulin intake at night as pregnancy progresses to keep the fasting number down, but I only have about 3 weeks left now! That fasting number is the frustrating one. It’s not so bad, just have to watch carb intake and definitely limit/cut out sweets.Best of luck!!

yours look pretty good overall. It took me about a week and a half to figure out what foods work for me and I try to stick to the same foods as much as I can. Having a small bedtime snack helped my fasting stay below 95. I try to do more protein than carbs at meals to help my sugar stay in range.

*not sure why it cut me offAnyway, I was told to make sure fasting was below 100 and breakfast, lunch and dinner was below 130.

How late do you eat dinner? And what is it that you eat? It all depends on what you eat...carbs are what make it be so high. But of course everyone’s body is different. Try to limit your carb intake...such as bread, pasta, rice, potatoes etc. Or just stay away from it and stick to proteins & green veggies - chicken, steak, broccoli, green beans, etc.
