Epidural Vs IV meds which is better?

With my first two kids I did NOT want the Epidural but I ended up getting it anyway.
They offered the IV meds but had said it doesn’t really kill the pain it just makes you loopy so you don’t care about the pain...
How did the IV meds work for everyone?
Epidural vs IV meds, which is healthy for the baby and for momma? Side effects of each? Any input?

I did both, IV first- it lasted for about 3 hours, and I still felt the pain but I didn’t care about the pain and it didn’t bother me cause I was loopy. Epidural lasted longer and completely took the pain away, I actually was able to rest before having to push which was great

My iv meds worked for 30 minutes after that I was back to literally screaming from back labor 😭 so I ended up with the epidural
