Umbilical hernia??

My daughter is 2 and a half weeks old and i think she may have an umbilical hernia. Have any of you moms dealt with this? How did you know for sure that's what it was?

My daughter had one when she was a baby (she’s 3 now). I took her to the doctor to have it checked out and he said not to worry. It closed up on its own around 6 months I think. It’s basically just because their stomach muscles grow from the outside inwards, so it’s one of the last things that develops. If you’re worried, take your baby to the doctor just to check, but it’s usually not a big deal.

My little one is now a month old . His doctor told me at his 2 week check up and said that it’s nothing to worry about it usually heals on it’s own and if not they won’t do anything until he’s about 3 or 4 years old .
