How are courting and dating any different? Pretty sure courting is just the old fashioned term for dating

Courting has rules. Where dating doesn’t necessarily. I dated my husband. But we had full intentions on marrying if we were to carry out a relationship.

We were intimate pretty much right off the bat. We dated for probably about 2.5 years or so before we married !

Both. I He courted me initially - took me on dates and cooked me dinner but was not physical and didn’t attempt to be. I honestly thought he wasn’t interested by the fifth date. I asked him directly why he hadn’t even tried to kiss me, and he said he wanted to be respectful and establish a relationship first :) we went slowly with intimacy and eventually the courting turned into dating when we did become physical. We’re now married with a son :)

Okay based on the definition then my husband and I dated. Neither of us had the intention of marriage or even a relationship when we met, it developed over time.

Well by the definitions in the comments, I believe my husband and I courted. We both wanted to settle down and find the one. We were ready for that kind of commitment if the relationship worked out that way and wouldn’t have stayed together had it not had the intention to lead to marriage. 
But honestly, that how I viewed every relationship I was in. I never dated a guy just to date. As soon as I realized I didn’t see a future with them, I ended it. Usually after a month or two.
