Baby in separate room?

My son is 8 months, I know it’s time to put him in a separate room, but my heart 💔 won’t let me do it! Does this really affect future sleeping habits if I keep him with me a little longer?

It does make it harder. When they become used to being with you 24/7 especially through the night then all of a sudden you change that they have a hard time. Every month that goes by they become more aware of their surroundings they become comfortable in their schedule and when you change that the harder it will be. Now I'm not telling you to separate from your child but I am telling u the older they get the harder it will be.

We kept my toddler in our room til he was one (suggested age to reduce the risk of SIDS) and he sleeps really well.

I waited til my daughter was 14 months to move her to her own room. She even slept in my bed with me before then. It went fine. Took a few days for her to get used to it, but she sleeps great now! We had no problems with waiting until she was older to move her.

We have a double bed in my sons room too, so we can sleep in there if need be. I had a lot of anxiety about sids and him breathing, and I’m glad I slept in his room a lot, because twice he started coughing and breathing weird at 2 am and I checked him (he was acting fine when he went down), he had a fever and was retracting, took him to the ER and he had RSV and low oxygen. The doctors said that happens a lot where the symptoms come on in the middle of the night. I hate to think of the what if’s, if I hadn’t been in his room and hear the change in his breathing. I never regret all the nights I’ve spent in the same room with him.

Depends on the baby. We just moved our 13 month old into her crib at night. She would nap in her crib during the day but sleep with us at night. She let me know it was time. It got to a point where she’d wake frequently and fuss when we’d toss around at night, when my husband got up early for work, or when I got up to use the restroom. She sleeps better and longer on her own and the transition was easy and fuss-free. But I do miss snuggling with her! 😭😩

I put my kids in their own room around 2 months, i couldn't sleep with them in the room with all their tossing and turning and grunting. They're such loud sleepers i couldn't sleep soundly.

Do what works best for you and your family. If you're worried about him being used to his room in the future, you could start by having him take naps in his own room. If that's not a concern, then just wait until you're all ready.

My daughter sleeps with us still, but she has a floor bed in her room thay she naps on and occasionally sleeps the first half of the night if hubby and I want some alone time 😏 Shes a year old and we probably wont force her out until shes ready, baby brother is due in march. 💗 They are only little for so long momma, sleep is developemental and there will come a day where they dont even want to snuggle. You are not ruining or messing anything up by keeping until you/babe is ready.

Yes it does, my son is almost 4 & HAS to sleep with me & his dad. 🤦🏽‍♀️ I wish I would’ve put him in his own room from the beginning.
