I had awful gender disappointment with my last daughter as I was so convinced she was finally the little boy I so desperately wanted. It took me longer than I care to admit to get over it, but I did. If you’re struggling with it my advice is to be open about it. Allow yourself to feel what you’re feeling and then move on. It’s okay to grieve the baby you thought you wanted/or were getting and then get back to focus on your little. Whatever you do don’t bottle it up and sit on it. That’s what I did and I fully believe it is what sent me into my postpartum depression because I felt so guilty for feeling disappointment the way I did. I don’t want my worst enemy to feel that way. So know your feelings are valid regardless of what anyone says. It’s okay to feel what you’re feeling, just don’t move there and live with it, move on. 😘

I got what I wanted, and knew she was a girl from the minute I had my positive test, but I can also completely understand how some people get upset and disappointed when they don’t get the gender they pin their hopes on.

I wasn’t with my first because I wanted a boy. I kind of wanted a girl with my second since it took so long and so much heartache to conceive him. I didn’t think I could have more. Now I’m pregnant again while my second is 14 months and I reallly wanted a girl, but it’s another boy. We didn’t find it what our first first baby was because we lost them at two months. But we want more if God will let us and after this I just don’t think I care. I like being a boy mom and my children bring me such joy and pride that it truly doesn’t matter now.

I did when I found out it was a girl, it was more that I just always had this image of my son with a little brother, it was also bad because the doctor who did the ultrasound was horrible and insensitive about my vbac attempt (he is not my doctor we did this ultrasound overseas he just is a doctor who believes elective cesareans are always better since women only have a couple of children now), anyways I made my boyfriend bring me for another ultrasound to confirm it again since the first guy said it was a girl but couldn’t show us in the scan or get a photo so it was even harder to come to terms to the idea of a girl when I felt I wasn’t sure I could trust him. The second doctor was much better and showed us clearly it was a little girl, so I started some shopping to get a bit excited. I’m still a little sad my son won’t have a brother but I’m not sad that he’s having a sister if that makes sense. Whatever you feel is ok be kind to yourself and take time to come to terms with it, if it is overwhelming and you find you cannot cope with the feelings then seek professional assistance, it may be more then gender disappointment or even a combo of gender disappointment and something more (like prenatal depression or anxiety).

Disappointment isn’t the right word.. shock maybe? I didn’t really care either way but based on every single old wives tale it was pointing to boy so when they said girl I was a little surprised. I was ready to hear either but I think I really did think I was going to have a boy!

I was actually quite sad when the tech announced that its a boy. I've always wanted a daughter. I knew my SO wanted a daughter as well. We have my step son already, and he (usually) wanted a baby sister when asked. 
But then I laid down to go to bed that night, and the little one got busy kicking away and having a dance party. It was the strongest I had ever felt him. And I fell in love again with my sweet rainbow baby. 
I'll be honest, I'll probably always want a girl. And I hope that someday we will get our chance to have a beautiful curly haired ginger baby girl. But right now, I'm a boy mom, and I couldn't be happier. 💙

We were hoping for a girl so our daughter would have a sister but found out we’re having a boy. I allowed myself to cry ONCE and after that I got to shopping and naming this little dude. Now I’m very excited and can definitely wait for the chaos to ensue. I’m just trying to enjoy my last pregnancy and bond with this little sprout. He’s also our rainbow so he’s definitely very special.

Yes, I’m having my third boy and having my tubes tied so I definitely mourned the fact that I’ll never have a daughter but I love this baby just as much no matter what
