The most functional type of government is...

Va

Just reflecting on the election gets me thinking about the message many of the speakers and media (on both political sides) have put out in the past months.

Sure, it is understandable/logical that the party that has the majority in either the senate or house would have the ability to further their agenda with less friction.. however the concept of Congress was built on the ideas of collaboration and compromises. It seems that both side are generally becoming just more and more vocal that controlling a part of congress means ‘blocking’ the other side.. the message of working together has become less popular. Obviously this is a divisive subject, but regardless of your politics you probably have a preference for how our govt should work.

If a bill is presented from either party, does congress owe it to the American people to collaborate and compromise to try and create positive progress on dated issues, or is it ok for a side to say ‘we have the majority, we are shutting down anything the other side presents’. Is it ok for congress to stop working and just spend time blocking the other side for years at a time?
