Hi everyone,
I got married to my husband last March and we both worked full time at the time. He had a son from a previous relationship that he sees once or twice a month, but pays child support for every two weeks. He’s always paid for everything his kid owns, as well as medical bills and insurance, as his kid’s mother doesn’t work. I work every weekend and therefore never get to see this child.
My husband will be going to school full time starting in January, so he’ll be dropping his hours so he no longer qualifies for benefits. I’ll be working two jobs to cover everything while he’s in school and added him as a dependent on my insurance. Open enrollment came and went, but he asked me to add his son to my insurance so I did... with some unease about it. The last time I saw him was in May. What are your thoughts? I kind of feel like I’m a charity. Is that horrible? I’m just feeling indignant that i work two jobs and his own mother doesn’t work any. It’s going to be an extra $200 a month out of my paycheck to cover both of them, plus I’ll be paying my husband’s tuition... :/
Tl;dr: am I wrong for being hesitant for adding my step son who I never see to my medical insurance?
