SHOULD I TAKE MY BABY TO THE ER???

My 12 month old has a 100.4 rectal temperature. Should I take him to the ER?

Pretty sure thats within normal range for rectal. But i wouldnt go to er unless temperature is 104 or higher and thats after given medicine, and if medicine didnt bring it down. Most doctors will tell you the same. If medicine brings fever down than they are okay unless it persists more than 3 days. Fevers are good to have if on the lower side they help fight off whatevers wrong so I wouldnt even give medicine yet. Hospitals should be a last resort as they really are full of sick people and germs. Hope your baby feels well soon!

Does your ped have an on call nurse line? Honestly 100.4 rectal is considered low grade and non worrisome. Above 103 is when they generally say to be seen. Also depends on other symptoms though, which is why i encourage you to call!
