How many words should a 10 month old say?

FTM so I'm not sure. My LO only says Dada consistently and knows what it means. He has only said Mama a handful of times but it's slowly happening more often now. He tries to mimic words but he doesn't say them on his own. He knows what a lot of things are. If I ask him where his water or teddy is, for example he will point at them or go and grab them. Is he where he should be at this age or should he be saying more words? Thanks!

He’s fine, they’re not really needed to say anything at that age lol. My 14mo only says mama dada & bubba (for bottle) & he’s on track. You son is doing very well in that department. They understand a lot more than they can speak in return which is why he goes gets his water & mimics you, all good signs!

Yes your son is perfectly fine. My son is 17 months now and was the exact same at 10 months. Hes starting to blabber a little more and kind of saying new words like now he's saying "woah" and I actually talked to my pediatrician about it at his 15 month check up and she said it's normal. As long a he understands what you're saying, and points at things, then hes where he should be. Especially with him saying mama and dada. She also said hes not going to say it all the time. Because that's how my son was. He would only say mama when hes pissed off and wanting me and he would only say dada randomly. So it wasn't everyday. She said most of the time it doesnt become a concern until 18 months. But even then I'm not going to be as bothered by it because when I was a daycare teacher for 2 year old I had some kids that still didnt know how to talk much until one day they just came in and started talking full sentences.

I don’t know. My 9 month old only says mama and baba. He has said papa , nana and dada.  He knows the words and the meanings.  It sounded like he said hungry last night. 
Oh and he says bye. 
Is your LO around other children ? Mine didn’t start talking until he was around other babies that were a little older

My mom thought I was disabled because I was well past a year old when I finally started talking, I refused to speak until I could speak in full sentences and tell people what I wanted.

Our almost 18-month-old didn't start saying anything until just a couple weeks ago. I've never once been concerned about it. Your little one is just fine and right on track! Don't worry about how many words he "should" be saying. Speech delay is the most common form of "delay". Not many babies and toddlers reach the standards set for speech. So honestly, I think the standards need a huge update.
