Kitten Separation Anxiety??

My mom owns a farm and she had a bunch of kittens so my husband and I got one. He’ll be 5 months old next month and we just brought him home yesterday. I feel so bad for the little guy because when we left for work this morning (I usually don’t work but I picked up a babysitting job for some extra money) he freaked and was meowing super loud at the door. He’s claimed my husband as his person and when he left for a short time last night he was freaking out running around meowing. He eventually calmed down and came to snuggle with me since I was home with him but now I’m worried he’s still at home meowing his little heart out. I just wish I could take him with me everywhere 😞 I know this is a new environment for him so he’ll have to settle in but I just feel so bad for him. He’s also not used to the traffic and runs to hide every time a vehicle passes. Has anyone had kitties with anxiety? What helped them adjust? Did they eventually calm down on their own?
