Birthing classes yay or nay

Am I the only one that thinks birthing classes are pointless? My fiancé asked if we were going to do the and my response was no because it is a lot of money for something I am going to forget once im going into labor! Lol. This is our first child so I know he is excited but I know I am going to forget everything once the pain comes lol
