I’m not sure what to do about my child’s last name I know some people tend to go for there partners last name but when my baby is due he’s gunna be a 5th generation on my side of family but I don’t want to give him a long name any thoughts would he still be 5th generation even if he doesn’t have my last name my partner says it’s up to me what I do but i don’t want to stress on it too much

Personally I like the tradition of taking the guys last name. I'm doing my maiden name as the middle name I think. But that's just it, it's a pretty personal decision. I know someone who swapped last names. First one was the guys, second baby had the girls last name. Maybe an option if you dont like the idea of hyphenating.
