Morning ladies! I have a question about allergy medication & pregnancy.

I’ve been taking Allegra 180 for as long as I can remember because I have severe allergies. I’m 6 weeks pregnant & for the past 4 days, I attempted to cut the pill in half & only take 90 mg but I feel absolutely miserable. I can’t stop sneezing, my eyes are itchy & watery, & my throat is so itchy. I’m also having trouble sleeping because of it.

I’ve been doing some reading & most research says allergy meds have no negative effect on mom or baby during pregnancy. The only thing I can seem to find is that sometimes it’s more difficult for moms taking allergy meds to gain sufficient weight. No birth defects or anything like that. I’ve also read that it’s better for me to feel good rather than miserable, so it might just be safer to keep taking the medicine. I’m just worried because it’s so early on in my pregnancy, I know that’s when all my baby’s organs are developing.

I read on here that one girl’s doctor recommended no allergy meds till after 8 weeks, but I don’t think I can do it. I can hardly function.

I haven’t been to my OB yet to ask. I won’t be seen until December 3rd.

What do you all think? Have you experienced something similar? Can anyone shed some light?
