Is that a thing? I have no pimples and my scabs from old ones are healing! Whaaaaat??

Mine actually got much worse! The theory is that because the hormones are contained to your uterus, they aren’t in your bloodstream and don’t play their normal role in calming your skin. Specifically, for women not on the IUD, progesterone dips significantly when you get your period. Similarly, many women observe that when they get their period they may have breakouts on their skin. Thus, a lack of progesterone in your blood stream (due to it being confined to the uterus), results in worse skin. Note that this is not scientifically proven, but is what I experienced. For some women, progesterone continues to circulate normally in their body in the IUD.
Note that the hormonal birth control pill is definitely linked to better/clearer skin. When I was on the pill I definitely noticed better skin. When I switched to the IUD, breakouts galore!
