Yes to both. Depends on your situation. If you get a great supply with pumping and have a supportive partner/easy baby it’s a great option. And if you don’t find it affects you mentally/emotionally or however negatively. 
But if you don’t get much pumping, don’t have support, have a baby that always wants held...you’re experience will be harder. 
You really can’t know until you try.

Both.. it’s a huge hassle but it’s also great for baby if your supply does well.... like in my situation I nursed so well but I couldn’t pump to save my life... it would give me blisters and I couldn’t ever get much out after pumping for 30 minutes or more and I tried all size flanges.. it was awful. So I decided it was better for my sanity to stop when I went back to work bc my supply dropped so had to supplement formula and my baby seemed to really like it anyway.... it’s a situational thing.

If you’re pumping enough milk, it’s great for your baby and saves money! If you can’t, yes it’s a hassle. I could barely pump anything 😟
