MIL competing with me?

I’ve noticed this for quite some time now... every time i do something for my boyfriend she has to one up me..

I’ve told her about gifts and she has gone out bought the next best version.

He is her youngest child but cmon... who treats adults like this.

We’ve been together for 3 years now. She tried planning a surprise party for him (even though I did that last year) and realized she couldn’t contact any friends so she asked me. I told her we already had plans for the weekend.

I was super annoyed she would assume that was her place.

I have so much anxiety towards his birthday and Christmas because I am constantly competing against her. What age do you stop texting your kids like their 12???

She doesn’t encourage him to save money or to continue with school or to move out. She waits by the door when he leaves for work and says “bye hunny I love you soo much” 3 times. She is straining our relationship and I don’t know what to do
