Miscarriage at ER???

Question

I have been bleeding at 6 weeks and decided to go to the ER because my OB recommended it. They originally wanted to set up an ultrasound but after I peed in the cup, they cancelled the ultrasound and did blood work instead. They said ABT and CBC maybe were the blood tests??? What does all this mean? Did I lose the baby?

Not necessarily. I had 5 weeks worth of bleeding in the first trimester and am now 34 and a half weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy. If your hcg levels with the urine sample came back too low to really be able to see anything on the ultrasound, that would explain cancelling that. They could’ve at least done one to try to find the source of the bleed though.

They likely will test your blood at two separate intervals to see if your levels are increasing or decreasing, otherwise honestly an ER visit was a waste of time. I used to work in an OB office and A lot of times we’d recommend an ER trip for peace of mind for the patient ultimately knowing there’s nothing we nor the ER can do. They wouldn’t of seen anything on an ultrasound that early which is likely why they cancelled it. I’m sorry you’re going though this 😞

It doesnt really give us an indication. They may be checking hcg levels as well. Idk
