I received a letter from DCF in Massachusetts inquiring about my interest in being a pre-adoptive home; I’ve been identified as kin.

I’ve never been to MA and don’t have any family in that region of the US. How the hell did they get my name?! Does anyone have any idea how staff identify & choose to contact prospective adoptive parents for children who’s biological parents have lost custody??

There’s no contact info included for the social worker who signed the letter. It instructs me to contact DCF in writing by December 4 if I have interest.
