Terrible ER experience -long

Ti

So, I i noticed that my left leg from the knee down was so swollen that it hurt to walk, bend, stretch and overall move it without needle pains shooting through my leg all the way to my ankle.

I call the on call nurse and gave her all my symptoms and she asked a bunch of questions and told me to get seen within 24 hours.

I go to the emergency room as I’m waiting the swelling gets worse. Skin was turning purple and it was going numb. There was an obvious difference from my left to the right leg.

I go back there, they hook me up and then a nurse comes in to put the heart monitor on my belly (25weeks) and couldn’t find her heartbeat, she gets another machine and couldn’t find it, gets another nurse and machine and still couldn’t find it. Even tho my baby was moving around like crazy and kicking. I have a fetal Doppler at home and can find her heartbeat in seconds.

Finally the dr comes in and asks me what’s going on and stuff. I tell him. He cuts me off and says “where do you see swelling at because I don’t see anything and both look the same to me” very rudely. He tells me that from 12am-7am they don’t do ultrasounds to look for blood clots and I’d have to come back after 7am(it was 1am at this time after waiting for 2 hours) or I could follow up with my dr on Monday.

He finally brings in the ultrasound machine to check my baby’s heartbeat which he had no clue how to work, found it and basically told me to elevate my legs above my heart and drink fluids.

During this time I have severe pains in my pelvic area to the point I wanted to cry because it hurt so bad and not once did he check me for that. I felt super uncomfortable and felt like it was waiting his time. If I’m in pain or the nurse tells me to go be seen then I want to be seen the correct way.

How would you react?
