Can you find love with your ex again?

I’ve talked about this with many people, many say the same thing, “dating your ex again is like rereading the same book and expecting a different ending.” 
I know many people who get back with their exes and it works, and some can’t stand their exes. 
I just want to know this communities opinion on the topic

I feel like trying to date any ex again is like throwing out trash & bringing it back in your house #pointless

I’ve been married to my ex for 7 years. We broke up due to me moving away when we for university when we’d only been dating 8 months. We still loved each other though and eventually my ex realized he was able to try long distance. We got back together, did nearly 5 years long distance and got married after 6 years being back together. We have two boys and a third child on the way. We’re so happy together. 
In many circumstances getting back together with your ex is not a great idea, but that’s not true for everyone. I never would’ve completely let my ex (now husband) go nor would I have ever been truly happy with someone else.

I think it depends on the reason you broke up. For example distance or work or just not the right timing could be really easy to get back with someone but if that person was controlling or abusive or a cheater then no.

Honestly almost all of my previous relationships were emotionally toxic so I would say that I wouldn't get back with an ex (although I did think about it once before)

Depends on the situation. A family friend and her high school sweetheart broke up for a few years during college. They reconnected and are now married with three kids.

Depends on the situation. But if its because of fighting or issues that weren’t fixable or whatever then don’t bother honestly. You broke up for a reason.

I’ve been with my ex for nearly 9 years. 
We knew each other as teenagers and broke up because our parents didn’t agree on us dating (we were 15 & 19 at the time!) 
Been back together since 2010!

I think its possible, BUT only if whatever caused you to break up originally is no longer a factor.
