Lip Tie?

I’ve had trouble with breast-feeding from the beginning. My baby was a C-section and was in the NICU for 5 days. He needed to be on formula right away because of low blood sugar. When I had problems nursing, everyone said it was just nipple confusion. We tried nursing almost every day, but it wasn’t pretty and usually resulted in both of us frustrated, crying, and stressed out. Once he made my nipples bleed, I gave up on nursing and only pumped. (I don’t make enough, so he’s fed half formula and half breast milk.) The other night, my husband‘s cousin was visiting from out of town. She happens to be a lactation consultant. She said my baby has a lip tie and that’s probably why we had so much trouble nursing. Has anyone had any experience with lip ties and getting them corrected? What do you guys think?
