Just want a small, intimate party for my son’s 1st birthday but my mom wants to have a big party at a venue with her friends and like everyone we know just so we can get tons of gifts.. I don’t want that for my son and I just know he’d be overwhelmed anyway. So I cancelled the party so we can have a fun little smash cake and photo shoot with just him, his dad, and me. I figured since Christmas is right after his birthday, everyone else will get to see him then. I want his birthday to be all about him and not my mom, or her friends, or the gifts.
